Princess Birthday Tea Party

On Saturday I hosted a beautiful princess birthday tea party for a sweet little girl and several of her friends.  Her mother requested a princess theme for the party and said she liked pink.  Boy did I have fun with that!
I used lovely pastel shades and did a shabby chic princess theme with lots of pink and some gold accents as well.  I really love how the gold looked with the pinks and blues.
I dressed my mannequin in a pretty pink formal gown and gave her a beautiful princess crown.  The little girls loved it!
The table is so beautiful and fit for a princess!
I love the beautiful princess carriage here!  I filled it with an ivory flower ball and wrapped it with a sweet shabby chic fabric strip I pulled from a remenant I found at a local craft store.
I made some "happy birthday" floral picks using cute shabby chic paper and gold glitter.
I also made some gold crowns from beautiful lace that I stiffened with mod podge, then painted gold and added sparkly gold glitter.

Isn't the little birthday cake cute? I made it from empty ribbon spools, scrapbook paper, tinsel and tissue garland, ribbon, paper flowers, and glitter.  I really love these!
This is a beautiful gold lace crown perfect for a princess!
I set up the buffet with all of the food for the tea party.  I added decorations that coordinated with the tablescape.  I really love how it all turned out!
I dressed my mannequin in a pink formal gown and added a pretty tiara to the top.  The girls really loved her!
I served the girls assorted tea sandwiches, fresh fruit, sugar cookies, and pink princess tea!
I also made some delicious confetti cupcakes with pink cherry icing and gold sprinkles.  I made gold glitter crown picks and added them with some silk roses to the top of each cupcake.
This was princess Charlee's special birthday cupcake.  She got a special birthday pick and a candle on her cupcake.
This is another cute cake I hand-made for the party.  I made a small present from clay and a tiny party horn and glued them to the top of this cake.  I love the little banner over the top of the cake too!
Charlee made a wish and blew out her candle after we sang Happy Birthday to her!
All of the sweet little princesses had lots of fun at the birthday party!
Happy 5th birthday princess Charlee!  We hope you had a special birthday celebration at Southard House that you will remember for your lifetime!

Easter Decorations 2016

Southard House got a makeover and now the guests are enjoying some beautiful spring and Easter decor at the inn!  I love decorating for each new holiday or season and spring is definitely one of my favorite decorating times.  I love all of the pretty, soft pastel colors and lots of flowers when decorating.
The mud room upon entry of the house is decorated with lots of flowers and spring items.  I love the beautiful cross that says "Celebrate New Life" that hangs on the front door.  It is a great reminder of this season of new life!
The fireplace mantle in the parlor is so pretty right now!  I love the pretty pastel colors!
I made these fabric cones before we opened and I have decorated them for several holidays. This time they are filled with special Easter items!

I am especially fond of this sweet white bunny couple and the chicks.  They look vintage to me and fit the decor style perfectly in the room.

I made this fabric cone above and the cute Easter banner below.  I had a lot of fun decorating the banner with lots of spring embellishments.
This small table sits on the landing in the stairway and is a different decor style than the rest of the first floor.  I love the ivory, taupe, and silver color palate. I made the beautiful jumbo egg and the pillow hiding in the background that reads "No matter how long the winter spring always comes."
The dining room is a really beautiful place for a morning brunch or ladies tea party!
The dining table is covered in a white damask tablecloth with a pink satin runner and lots of pretty Easter decorations.  I used bunnies, baby chicks, glittery Easter eggs, candles, and lots of spring flowers to decorate the table.
The buffet in the parlor is also covered with white and pink runners, bunnies, Easter eggs, and lots of spring flowers.
Several of our beautiful suites got decorated for spring and Easter too.  One of my favorite places to decorate in the inn is the mantle in Suite Hope, our Marie Antoinette-inspired suite.  It is my favorite suite because I love the decor and all of the pink!

I really love the fabric-covered egg on the pedestal and the set of velveteen rabbits. I filled the ceramic Easter basket with a lace-covered egg that I made, a glittery Easter egg, a small framed print of Marie Antoinette, and a fluffy baby chick.
Suite Dreams, our French garden-inspired suite, got a little pop of spring decor on a small shelf. I decorated a metal bucket by covering it with cute purple checked fabric and adding a vintage Easter image to the front.  I added lace trim and a cute beaded handle. I filled the bucket with some cute Easter eggs I made from felt, fabric ribbon, and purple flowers and then added a cute paper mache' bunny.
Suite Blessings, our spa-inspired suite, has an antique dresser that is a great place for decorating.  I used a vintage rabbit, burlap-covered eggs, a bird nest and eggs, and spring flowers to decorate this suite for spring.

If you are ever in the Enid, OK area you will have to come by and have a tour of our lovely inn, or better yet you could book a suite and enjoy our delicious homemade breakfast served in your suite on the weekends!  For more information about Southard House Bed and Breakfast Inn, please visit our website at www.southardhouse.com.

Easter Boutique 2016

Southard House has a beautiful gift boutique inside our local antique mall, Broadway Antiques and Uniques, located at 129 E. Broadway in downtown Enid, OK.  I have been busy the past few weeks removing all of the Valentine decor and gift items and replacing it with beautiful Easter items.
I have many items from the Dee Foust Harvey collection, like this beautiful white rabbit with a top hat and a cone full of flowers.  She would look great in your home for spring or Easter!  I did make the beautiful pink Easter egg carton below Miss Bunny and it would be so cute filled with pretty Easter treats!
This Easter tree is decorated with pretty Easter ornaments.  Some of them were hand made by me and some of them were purchased, but all of them are available for you to own and give to friends and family,
Most of these ornaments would make great gift tags and they would be so cute tucked in to a special Easter basket!
So many pretty Easter home decor and gift items are available in the boutique!
I made these cute Easter baskets and decorated eggs just for you!
Some of my favorite creations were these beautiful paper mache' eggs.  They were painted, sugared, and decorated with lace, ribbon, paper flowers, hand made butterflies, and a cute Easter pick for the top.  This pink egg is my favorite and I made a few others like it just for myself!
The ivory jumbo egg is just a beautiful and it is still available for purchase!
I love these precious angels on eggs.  They have a party hat and hold a pretty pink egg with roses. They would be sweet in a little girl's room or on your Easter mantle!
Fill these cute Easter baskets with sweet little treats to surprise a friend or co-worker for Easter!
I had so much fun making these sweet "chocolate bunnies" from felt.  These bunnies will never spoil or get old and can be reused every year for Easter decorating.  They would make a great gift for someone that cannot eat sweets or chocolate!  These bunnies are "white chocolate" and were decorated with pink, aqua, or purple ribbon and paper flowers.
These are "milk chocolate" bunnies and there are "dark chocolate" bunnies available as well.  They are a darker brown color. They all have a chocolate bunny gift tag and are available for purchase.
This pretty egg hanger would look great hanging on your front door for Easter!  It is covered in pink floral scrapbook paper and decorated with fabric flowers, ribbon, lace, paper rosette, and a paper chocolate bunny.  It says "Easter Greetings" to welcome your guests to your home.
"Dark chocolate" bunnies, a lavender jumbo egg, and several vintage Easter image sachets are also available in the boutique!
I made five beautiful Easter egg cartons for the boutique this year.  They are painted with pretty pastel colors and decorated with ruffled fabric trim, fabric and paper flowers, a vintage image, pearls, hand-made butterflies, and ribbon.
Each of the cartons in decorated on the inside with a coordinating vintage image and ribbon as well.

This blue egg carton is my favorite of all that I created.  I hope some lucky person will be blessed with it soon!
There are many other lovely gift and home decor items available in the boutique at all times, including Southard House tea cups/coffee mugs, lavender bath salts, lavender linen spray, Southard House cookbooks, assorted fragrant olive oil soaps, microwave heat/cold packs, and lavender sachets.  If you are in the Enid, OK area please check out the boutique at Broadway Antiques and Uniques.  If you are not in the area and you are interested in purchasing any of these items, please email Tammy at stay@southardhouse.com with questions and requests.
