Princess Birthday Tea Party

On Saturday I hosted a beautiful princess birthday tea party for a sweet little girl and several of her friends.  Her mother requested a princess theme for the party and said she liked pink.  Boy did I have fun with that!
I used lovely pastel shades and did a shabby chic princess theme with lots of pink and some gold accents as well.  I really love how the gold looked with the pinks and blues.
I dressed my mannequin in a pretty pink formal gown and gave her a beautiful princess crown.  The little girls loved it!
The table is so beautiful and fit for a princess!
I love the beautiful princess carriage here!  I filled it with an ivory flower ball and wrapped it with a sweet shabby chic fabric strip I pulled from a remenant I found at a local craft store.
I made some "happy birthday" floral picks using cute shabby chic paper and gold glitter.
I also made some gold crowns from beautiful lace that I stiffened with mod podge, then painted gold and added sparkly gold glitter.

Isn't the little birthday cake cute? I made it from empty ribbon spools, scrapbook paper, tinsel and tissue garland, ribbon, paper flowers, and glitter.  I really love these!
This is a beautiful gold lace crown perfect for a princess!
I set up the buffet with all of the food for the tea party.  I added decorations that coordinated with the tablescape.  I really love how it all turned out!
I dressed my mannequin in a pink formal gown and added a pretty tiara to the top.  The girls really loved her!
I served the girls assorted tea sandwiches, fresh fruit, sugar cookies, and pink princess tea!
I also made some delicious confetti cupcakes with pink cherry icing and gold sprinkles.  I made gold glitter crown picks and added them with some silk roses to the top of each cupcake.
This was princess Charlee's special birthday cupcake.  She got a special birthday pick and a candle on her cupcake.
This is another cute cake I hand-made for the party.  I made a small present from clay and a tiny party horn and glued them to the top of this cake.  I love the little banner over the top of the cake too!
Charlee made a wish and blew out her candle after we sang Happy Birthday to her!
All of the sweet little princesses had lots of fun at the birthday party!
Happy 5th birthday princess Charlee!  We hope you had a special birthday celebration at Southard House that you will remember for your lifetime!

Easter Decorations 2016

Southard House got a makeover and now the guests are enjoying some beautiful spring and Easter decor at the inn!  I love decorating for each new holiday or season and spring is definitely one of my favorite decorating times.  I love all of the pretty, soft pastel colors and lots of flowers when decorating.
The mud room upon entry of the house is decorated with lots of flowers and spring items.  I love the beautiful cross that says "Celebrate New Life" that hangs on the front door.  It is a great reminder of this season of new life!
The fireplace mantle in the parlor is so pretty right now!  I love the pretty pastel colors!
I made these fabric cones before we opened and I have decorated them for several holidays. This time they are filled with special Easter items!

I am especially fond of this sweet white bunny couple and the chicks.  They look vintage to me and fit the decor style perfectly in the room.

I made this fabric cone above and the cute Easter banner below.  I had a lot of fun decorating the banner with lots of spring embellishments.
This small table sits on the landing in the stairway and is a different decor style than the rest of the first floor.  I love the ivory, taupe, and silver color palate. I made the beautiful jumbo egg and the pillow hiding in the background that reads "No matter how long the winter spring always comes."
The dining room is a really beautiful place for a morning brunch or ladies tea party!
The dining table is covered in a white damask tablecloth with a pink satin runner and lots of pretty Easter decorations.  I used bunnies, baby chicks, glittery Easter eggs, candles, and lots of spring flowers to decorate the table.
The buffet in the parlor is also covered with white and pink runners, bunnies, Easter eggs, and lots of spring flowers.
Several of our beautiful suites got decorated for spring and Easter too.  One of my favorite places to decorate in the inn is the mantle in Suite Hope, our Marie Antoinette-inspired suite.  It is my favorite suite because I love the decor and all of the pink!

I really love the fabric-covered egg on the pedestal and the set of velveteen rabbits. I filled the ceramic Easter basket with a lace-covered egg that I made, a glittery Easter egg, a small framed print of Marie Antoinette, and a fluffy baby chick.
Suite Dreams, our French garden-inspired suite, got a little pop of spring decor on a small shelf. I decorated a metal bucket by covering it with cute purple checked fabric and adding a vintage Easter image to the front.  I added lace trim and a cute beaded handle. I filled the bucket with some cute Easter eggs I made from felt, fabric ribbon, and purple flowers and then added a cute paper mache' bunny.
Suite Blessings, our spa-inspired suite, has an antique dresser that is a great place for decorating.  I used a vintage rabbit, burlap-covered eggs, a bird nest and eggs, and spring flowers to decorate this suite for spring.

If you are ever in the Enid, OK area you will have to come by and have a tour of our lovely inn, or better yet you could book a suite and enjoy our delicious homemade breakfast served in your suite on the weekends!  For more information about Southard House Bed and Breakfast Inn, please visit our website at www.southardhouse.com.
